Cheshire Public Schools has a well-deserved reputation for excellence throughout all of our programs from early childhood through grade 12. Take a look at some of our accomplishments from the 2023-2024 school year.

Norton 6th Grader Wins MLK Jr. Essay Contest

Isabella Pyo, grade 6, at Norton Elementary School won the 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest sponsored by Congressional District 5! Isabella attended an event held at the Afro American Culture Center at Yale and was recognized by the Cheshire Board of Education.

Highland Awarded 2024 Outstanding School Culture and Climate

Highland Elementary School was presented the 2024 Outstanding School Culture and Climate award by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS). In recognition of the school community’s shared success in building an environment where all members feel valued, engaged, supported and safe.

50th Annual Cheshire Food Drive

Representatives from the Cheshire Food Drive presented Dr. Solan with a plaque in recognition of the support of the Cheshire Public Schools community.

School Partnership Award

Each month one school in the Cheshire district selects an individual to honor at a Board of Education meeting. These recipients are recognized for going above and beyond for the children of Cheshire Public Schools. Preview the 2023-24 recipients below.

Doolitte Elementary School presented the March 2024 School Partnership Award to Matt Colehour.

Darcey School presented the February 2024 School Partnership Award to Laurie Borelli and her bunny Jersey.

Cheshire High School presented the January 2024 School Partnership Award to Peter DeBisschop of Pop’s Pizza©.

Chapman Elementary School presented the December 2023 School Partnership Award to Jim Jinks of Bike Cheshire©.

Dodd Middle School presented the November 2023 School Partnership Award to Jill Sutherland.

Highland Elementary School presented the October 2023 School Partnership Award to Cara Dorgis and her dog Chloe.
