Taking Child's Play Seriously
is a state-funded, year round program which provides comprehensive services to
children ages 0-3 who are identified as having developmental delays.
Our program has a highly qualified and experienced staff
consisting of a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech
pathologist, social worker and special education teachers. The staff makes home visits to provide speech, physical, occupational
and/or educational services. In addition, B-3 hosts the Parent/Child Resource Center which is a playgroup for children ages 0-3 and their parents.
Birth-to-three provides information and resources to families about programs available to them within their community. Birth-to-Three is a research based state and federally funded program that supports the development of infants and toddlers in the following ways:
- Through daily routines; what happens naturally in your home each day.
- Through "natural environments" where you would naturally be with your child - relative's home, community programs, friend's home, playgrounds, parks and stores.
Parents, family members and primary caregivers are the “first teachers” to their children. Allow us to assist you with ideas, techniques and strategies through the coaching style of interaction that will enhance your natural abilities as parents and/or primary caregivers.
If you have concerns regarding your child’s development, either attend the Parent/Child Resource Center at Darcey School (call for times 203-272-9108) or call Infoline at 1-800-505-7000 and request the Cheshire Birth-to-Three Program. The Birth-to-Three Team can conduct a complete developmental evaluation in your home.
