The library media program at Highland School is a multifaceted program. Within a curriculum rich in language, the program encourages a lifetime love of reading and gives the students the skills necessary to gather and utilize the sources of information available to them. Students are guided to choose print and nonprint material that is appropriate to their interests and abilities and enriches the curriculum presented in the classroom. Through instructional activities, students develop the ability to find books and information independently. In light of today's information explosion, information literacy is an important emphasis within our curriculum. At all levels, students are encouraged to consider their information needs, and are guided to the sources that will best meet those needs. |
