BUS ROUTES BY SCHOOL
2019 - 2020
The first day of school is Thursday, August 30, 2018. Busing information, including a child's bus number, bus stop location, and pick-up time, can be accessed at any time by logging into Powerschool, after August 15, 2018.
Students who are registered as of August 15, 2018 and are eligible for transportation will be contacted with their bus number and/or letter, stop location, and APPROXIMATE pickup time via e-mail notifications. Please make sure your current e-mail address is listed in your child's Powerschool account to recieve e-mailed communications. Please note: We do not publicize special needs or EIC preschool routes.
Bus routes, bus numbers, and pickup times will be adjusted as needed due to enrollment changes such as transfers/address changes/additional registrations, and processing of Available Seat Petition requests. Please refer to Powerschool for the most up-to-date bus route information.
BUS STOP GUIDELINES
Students should be at their assigned bus stop within visibility of the driver at least ten minutes before the scheduled pickup time. The bus will not stop if the student is inside the house, garage, or on the front porch. Pickup times may be adjusted during the first few weeks of school and can fluctuate from day-to-day during the school year due to issues such as traffic, weather, temporary road construction, changes in student population, etc.
Parents/guardians are responsible for the actions and safety of their children to, from, and at the bus stop and to and from the school assigned. Parents are responsible for their children being transported in any vehicle other than a school vehicle going to and returning from school. Parents are responsible for their children's conduct while riding on school vehicles.
A parent, guardian, or responsible older sibling (3rd grade or above) MUST be at the assigned bus stop of a kindergarten student. A parent or guardian must be at the bus stop of a student with special needs when the bus picks up or delivers the student. When no responsible party is available at delivery, bus drivers will contact Transportation and return the child to school or to the Transportation office, and it will be the responsibility of the parent to pick up the child.
Walking Distance: Students who are in kindergarten shall not be required to walk farther than one-half (1/2) mile to school or to the bus stop; students who are in Grades 1 through 6 shall not be required to walk farther than one (1) mile to school or to the bus stop; students who are in Grades 7 through 12 shall not be required to walk farther than one and one-half (1 1/2) miles to school or to the bus stop.
Walking Area: means the area encompassed by the student’s walking route. The walking area may be paved or unpaved and is usually parallel to a public road and is usually distinguished by curbing, drainage ditch, grass area, fencing, or other feature independent of any white line safety markings along the road pavement. Walking area includes sidewalks.
Requests for Transportation Changes – Student address changes and temporary busing changes should be submitted in writing to your child's school for review and approval. The school will then email your request to the Transportation Department. Available Seat Petition forms and Accommodation Petition forms should be submitted directly to the Transportation Department. No requests can be granted verbally over the phone. Due to the issues that must be addressed at the start of the school year, any Available Seat Petition forms received after August 15, 2018, may not be processed until September 7, 2018.
Transportation Opt Out - If your student will not be utilizing bus service either to or from school, please fill out a Transportation Opt Out form. Your decision is not binding. If at a later date you decide that your child needs bus transportation, please contact the Cheshire Public Schools' Transportation Coordinator to request service (two school days' notice is requested.)
BUS ROUTES 2018-2019
Please keep in mind that stop times are computer generated and are meant only as an estimate. Allow a ten-minute window on your pickup time and a 20 minute window on your drop-off time until you see what the real time is for your bus schedule. Please be aware that times can fluctuate from day-to-day due to such issues as traffic, weather, or temporary road construction.
The routes below indicate the bus number and nearest stop to your home address and approximate pickup and delivery times. Please check the parent portal in Powerschool for the most up-to-date busing information.
The bus routes are in PDF format and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view them. Once you have opened the school file from the links below, use the “find” feature within Adobe Reader to locate your bus stop.
