Gifted Education Program

For more than 30 years the Cheshire Public Schools has provided gifted education services to the student and parents in the school system.

Over the years, the service delivery methods have changed from self-contained classes, to cluster-grouped classes, from summer and after school programs, to pull-out and in-class delivery systems.

The identification system has changed as well, moving from a model with strict adherence to a cut-off score on a norm-referenced test of academic aptitude to a multi- factored assessment technique that attempts to match students with services rather than vice versa. What has not changed over the years is the district's strong commitment to providing services to students with advanced cognitive and academic abilities.
